i love this video!

yo joe!

31 01 2009

i used to be the biggest g.i. joe fan.  i don’t remember when it all started, but growing up i was all about the entire g.i. joe franchise… the toys, the comic books, the tv show… all of it.  i had all the action figures, vehicles and accessories… all the comic books… i kept all the file cards in a box… you name it.  i was really into transformers as well, but i was definitely much more of a g.i. joe fanatic.  i actually went to great lengths to avow my allegiance to the “real american hero”, but i’ll save those stories for another time. 🙂

first there was the live action transformers film and now g.i. joe fever is heating up around the world as the countdown is on to the august 7, 2009 release of the g.i. joe: the rise of cobra live action film!  this probably makes me somewhat a geek, but i am so excited!!   i’m also excited that during a 6 week span this summer both the g.i. joe film and transformers 2: revenge of the fallen (6.26.09!!!) hit theaters!  i know… geek. 🙂

the film is being directed by stephen sommers (director of the mummy) and among the characters that will be appearing in the film are duke, scarlett, snake eyes (!), storm shadow (!!), cobra commander, destro, the baroness, zartan (can’t wait to see that!), hawk and heavy duty.  word on the street is that there are already plans for at least two sequels, as well.  some of the first character posters from the movie set have just hit the net… and wow, i am such a nerd.  haha!  here they are…

happy happy, joy joy

5 12 2008

according to a researchers at the university of california, san diego, joy is contagious!

according the the research team, people with the most social connections — friends, spouses, neighbors, relatives — were also the happiest.

want joy?  give it away!

…on joining the circus

27 09 2008

when i was a child, i used to get upset and threaten my parents that i was gong to run away and join the circus.  sometimes i think that’s exactly what ended up happening…

i imagine that as a circus, um… person, you are often in a different city, have to be able to multi-task to keep the action going in all 3 rings, often find yourself walking fine lines or swinging from one thing to another and no matter what you do, are always surrounded by clowns.

i’m just saying… the parellels are uncanny.  🙂

jon and kate plus 8

25 06 2008

i am currently watching jon & kate plus 8 on tlc.  this show is incredible.

i don’t know what took me so long to discover it, but i am completely captivated… and worn out.  i have watched 3 episodes back to back tonight, and have already set up a series recording on my dvr to record them all.

I am currently watching the episode where “hannah pooped in her underwears”.  in just the hour and a half that i have spent with the gosselin family, i can already tell that kate has some significant control and abandonment issues and jon needs to grow a pair.  🙂  even so, i love this show!  i also love how the producers are not editing out the faith aspect of the gosselin’s family life.  the kids are adorable and so full of life!

speaking of tlc, they have some pretty dope new shows.  in addition to the aforementioned jon & kate plus 8, they have new shows like rock the reception and the singing office.  very cool.

great peace in great sorrow

Chapman family

“Steven Curtis Chapman’s youngest child died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a car driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the family’s Williamson County home.

Maria, one of the Christian singer’s six children, was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Hospital, which confirmed the death, according to Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The 5-year-old was hit by an SUV driven by her teenage brother, she said. Police did not give the driver’s name.

The teen was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser down the driveway of the rural home at about 5:30 p.m. and several children were playing in the area, McPherson said. He did not see Maria in the driveway before the vehicle struck her, she said.” excerpt from The Tennessean

This family has been a symbol of hope and grace to so many millions, and now I pray that they would find themselves surrounded by ministering angels and wrapped in the incomprehensible covering of the peace of God that Steven has faithfully stood on and sung about for so many years. In the middle of what is undoubtedly great sorrow, great pain, great hurt, great confusion and possibly even great anger, we pray the covering of God’s great peace over the Chapman family.
